Overview

Dr. Shyam Krishna Shrestha is Professor of Marketing at Public Youth Campus where he currently teaches in Masters of Business Study (MBS) of Management Program and in other executive education offerings. He has also taught global branding, international marketing. Shrestha’s primary research interest concerns the exports promotion of Nepalese products, foreign trade and impact of WTO Membership on Nepalese Economy, a topic on which he pioneered researched work over 14 years ago, well before the term "WTO" became the strategic focus of impact to corporations nationwide. Biography

Dr. Shyam Krishna Shrestha is Professor of Marketing at Public Youth Campus where he currently teaches in Masters of Business Study (MBS) of Management Program and in other executive education offerings. He has also taught global branding, international marketing. Shrestha’s primary research interest concerns the exports promotion of Nepalese products, foreign trade and impact of WTO Membership on Nepalese Economy, a topic on which he pioneered researched work over 14 years ago, well before the term "WTO" became the strategic focus of impact to corporations nationwide. In a series of research papers he has profiled high performance of impact of WTO in Nepal. He has published several technical articles, cases, and books and was referred in the course of study of Tribhuvan University as one of the most highly published full professors in the marketing field. His most recent books include Developing an Export Marketing, Global Marketing, and International Marketing. Dr. Shrestha has published more than 3 dozens articles relating to industry, trade, poverty alleviation, economic issues, tourism (including convention tourism), general public issues, professional issues, etc., in various journals, magazines and newspapers.

Prof. Dr. Shrestha has also held appointment as the Dean, Faculty of Management in Pokhara University in2008. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of the PYC Nepal Journal of Management annually publishes by Public Youth Campus.  He has also been a consultant in a marketing research consulting firm and manufacturing company. He has headed as Project Chief to Planning Commission in different research works. He has also served as a chief researcher to Nepal Government, Ministry of Housing and Physical Planning.  Despite above-mentioned consultancy services, Dr. Shrestha has conducted and provided several periodic, in-house and professional trainings to many institutions. He also has Presented a paper on “Managing the International Convention Centre” (ICC) Kathmandu at Hotel Everest, Kathmandu on June 1993 in the process of finalizing the report. The main objective of the study report was to recommend a suitable management modality for the ICC. At the presentation program, six alternative modalities were presented for discussion and to collect recommendations from the participants.

Dr. Shrestha has received the Ph. D degree in “Export Market Management: A case study of Nepal” from Patna University, Department of Applied Economics and Commerce, Patna, India in 1986 and Masters of Business Administration & Commerce from Tribhuvan University in 1977. He is a life member of Management Association of Nepal (MAN) and Nepal Red Cross Society.
