FEATURED WORK:
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: TEXT AND CASES, BY TULSI MAN SINGH & ARHAN STHAPIT
1st edition 2008, Taleju Prakashan

Abstract:
What should come first in a well functioning organisation is people or human resources. The management of human resources or Human Resource Management is one of the key activities of a modern manager. It has assumed more importance because of new developments in behaviour science as well as sociological and psychological studies, and rapidly changing business environment. The computer and information and communication technology (ICT) have also contributed to develop the area of HRM in both length and depth. This all has opened up more avenues to modern organisations so that they face both opportunities and challenges in managing their people. Authors Singh and Sthapit —both having impressive exposure to practical work life also—have integrated the practical side of human resource and behaviour management into the text-building of the book.
The book has used effective heuristics to help readers and students solve problems by learning from past experience and investigating practical ways of finding a viable solution. In this regard, 17 cases as well as real-life anecdotes and examples, and illustration box items enshrined in the book should prove to be helpful to the readers.
Cases, real-life anecdotes, examples and stories, relevant websites, integrated and strategic perspective, and Nepali context are a good treat to ardent learners who look for more application-oriented text book in Nepal.
